My name is Nicola Musgrove and I have over 15 years experience within education. My career started in Early Years where I worked within a private day nursery and Sure Start Children’s Centre. Following that, I moved in to teaching; in a further education capacity, leading courses within the Early Years, Childcare and Health and Social care department. I have taught on a wide range of courses from entry level to level 3, working with students of all ages from 14 upwards. With the introduction of the new T level programmes, I am also now working for an awarding body, as an Assessment Associate supporting the writing and reviewing of T level examinations
I am also parent to two young children, both of whom are on the autism spectrum. This has fuelled both my personal and professional interest in autism, neurodiversity and the world of special educational needs in general. Most recently, I have moved away from teaching, to begin a PhD later in the year with a focus on autism provision in mainstream education. I now work in a more advisory role and have delivered training sessions and webinars, primarily aimed at parents and teaching staff. I am also working as part of the West Yorkshire Autism and ADHD Deep Dive Coproduction Team, aiming to improve services for neurodivergent children, young people and adults.
