Dr. Erika Galea – Ph.D. (Psychology and Human Development, UCL), MSc. (Educational Leadership, Leicester), B.Ed. (Hons.) (Melit.)

Dr. Erika Galea is a leading expert in Educational Neuroscience and Human Development, with over two decades of experience in the education sector. Her extensive background spans roles as a teacher, senior leader in independent schools, examiner, and consultant to a wide range of educational stakeholders. Erika’s unique ability to connect with students, educators, parents, and policymakers has made her a prominent figure in bridging scientific research with real-world educational practice.

With a Ph.D. in Psychology and Human Development from UCL and a Master’s in Educational Leadership specializing in Distributed Leadership from Leicester, Erika’s work is rooted in evidence-based strategies that align neuroscientific insights with teaching and learning outcomes. She specializes in applying brain science principles to improve learning, leadership, and workplace practices.

As an education consultant in quality assurance and a dedicated coach and mentor, Erika delivers bespoke workshops for schools, educators, and corporate organizations. These workshops emphasize the critical role that neuroscience plays in understanding learning processes, decision-making, and resilience. By exploring the workings of the brain, Erika helps participants harness neuroplasticity—the brain’s ability to adapt and grow—enabling them to:

  • Improve focus, confidence, and emotional regulation.
  • Build resilience to challenges in both education and workplace settings.
  • Align teams’ cognitive processes to achieve shared goals and foster collaborative leadership.

In school-based environments, Erika translates cutting-edge neuroscience research into practical classroom strategies. Her workshops equip educators with the tools to enhance pedagogical practices, optimize student engagement, and foster long-term retention of knowledge. By integrating brain-based teaching strategies into classroom settings, Erika ensures that teachers can apply scientific principles to maximize student performance and well-being.

Recognizing the power of educational neuroscience to transform learning environments, Erika founded the Educational Neuroscience Hub Europe in Malta. The hub serves as a platform to raise awareness and understanding of how brain development shapes learning, leadership, and human development throughout a lifetime continuum. Through her leadership, the hub fosters dialogue between educators, neuroscientists, and organizational leaders, paving the way for improved teaching practices, professional development, and organizational alignment.

Erika’s expertise spans the following areas:

  • Neuroplasticity in Learning: Strategies to reshape brain patterns for improved cognitive performance.
  • Educational Leadership and Neuroscience: Aligning brain science with effective leadership and team-building practices.
  • Brain-Based Pedagogy: Practical applications of neuroscience to optimize teaching, learning, and memory.
  • Resilience and Emotional Regulation: Training individuals to overcome challenges through brain-focused strategies.

Her evidence-driven approach has been instrumental in transforming both educational institutions and corporate environments, helping individuals and teams achieve sustainable growth and shared success.
